The Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley classes are a S.T.E.A.M. based curriculum.  All our actives are carefully designed to develop the next generation of creative thinkers! 

Patrons that register for  Machine Lab and Design Lab by 9/8/2021 will receive a 10% discount, please call (979) 779-5437 to register and apply your discount.

Thursday I 4:30-6:00 I September 9-October 14

COURSE

Description: A hands-on, S.T.E.A.M. class designed to introduce engineers to the six simple machines; including pulley, inclined plane, lever, wedge, wheel and axle, and screw. Activities include building birdhouses, constructing a catapult, assembling robotic cars to use on ramps and more!

Ages: 8 years old and up

Cost: $150 Non-members I $135 members

Meet the teacher

Gretchen is a graduate of Texas A&M where she focused on studying child development, sociology and creativity through her major and working in the Texas A&M Motivation and Learning Lab. She is passionate about encouraging creativity through hands-on learning experiences and has previous teaching experience working in a local school district. Gretchen is currently working on her Masters of Science in Education at Johns Hopkins University and works at Innovation Station at the Children’s Museum.

COURSE

Description: From Idea to Plan to Done! You’ll learn to use the tools and techniques needed to create and build fun projects including printing, dyeing and circuitry.

Ages: 8 years old and up

Cost: $150 Non-members I $135 members

Meet the teacher

Laurie received her Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Fiber Arts from the Department of Art & Design at Eastern Michigan University. 
Her work has been exhibited at galleries in Michigan and Texas.  Laurie teaches workshops for adults and children locally and in Boston, Massachusetts, empowering her students to envision and implement projects in art, science, and everyday life.
 

cancelLation policy

Each registration with payment is considered a confirmed registration.  Registrations are unique to the child and not transferable from one child to another, including siblings.  

Registration fees include a $50 non-refundable fee. Refunds (minus the $50 non-refundable fee) are given for cancellations made at least 14 days prior to your registration start date.  Patrons must notify The Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley of their cancellation in writing or in person 14 days prior to the start date of registration, you may send an email to epa@cmbv.org. 

The Museum will not issue refunds within 14 days of the start date of registration and will not refund classes/camps missed for illness.  If you are unable to attend, the cost of your registration will be converted into a donation to the museum. 

Please be advised that The Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley reserves the right to cancel classes in the event that our classes do not meet a minimum enrollment. Patrons will receive a full refund. We appreciate your understanding.
